Basic Requirements For 2016/2017 Admission Screening Exercise

With the new Federal government policy on admission coming to stay and taking effect this year.
The Federal government through the Ministry of
Education scrapped Post Utme in all tertiary
institutions in Nigeria and replacing it with
admission screening exercise, here is a comprehensive list of needed documents for the 2016/2017 admission screening exercise:
1. O-level Results: Candidates are expected to
present copies of their O-level Certificates or
Statement of Results obtained in not more than
two sittings.
Another thing you should know is that if your Waec result up to two to three years old, you will be asked to present your certificate. If your Neco or Gce result is up to four years old, you will be asked to also present your certificate. Pls Note that if your result is not as old as above stated, you can present your Statement of Results. Waec or Neco Statement of Results can be obtained from the Secondary School you wrote the exam while Waec Gce Statement of Results can be obtained from the Waec Office close to you.

RESULT COMBINATION: Students are permitted to combine results from different examination body
examination bodies e.g WAEC and NECO.
However, some Schools don't accept some result combination e.g Nabteb and Waec combination. So pls aspirants are advised to consult relevant authorities in their school of choice before making any result combination.

2. KNOW YOUR SUBJECT COMBINATION :
One thing Students fail to understand during screening is the fact that subject combination is as important as other kind of screening which makes schools take their time to check your subject combination to know if there is an error. Jamb also understands this fact that is why they made available a Brochure to serve as a guide during registration so that aspirants will not fall victim of any kind of mistake.
The sad part of this subject combination is that during the screening, the Screening Officer goes through your subject combination and he sees that your combination did not tally with the Course you intend to study, you will be relocated to the department that tallies with the subject combination that was presented.

a href="http://www.winthrillsnetwork.com/ppc.php?id=ae546bd95c9b962f59c4e5b1ce3def41">
<img border="0" src="http://www.winthrillsnetwork.com/uploads/banners/fa16a85cc47d54c0d73b2046b1844878.png"></a>

Here are some subject combination of some course of study:
Medical Courses: English, Chemistry, Bilology, Physical.
Management Courses: Mathematics, English Language, Govt, Economics or Account
Social Science Courses: Mathematics, English language, Govt, Economics or Geography
Arts Courses: English language, Crk, Government, Literature in English
Engineering and Physical Science Courses: Mathematics, English language, Chemistry, Physics.

3 OTHER DOCUMENTS TO TAKE NOTE OF: In addition to your
O-level results, you are to present other
documents which may include;
i. Birth Certificate or Affidavit of Age Declaration in a Govt recognised Court of law(Federal High Court or Magistrate Court)
ii. JAMB Original Result Slip that includes your passport photograph
iii. Screening Registration Slip (for those that
registered online)
iv. Local Government of Origin (this can be
obtained at your LGA Secretariat)
4. PHYSICAL SCREENING: Please you are expected to dress decently as appearance matters alot. You may be screened out for the sole reason of appearance.

So I wish you all the best as your Success story begins. Goodluck!!

UNIBEN ARE YET TO SPEAK ON ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE

GREATEST UNIBEN STUDENTS,

In line with the controversies surrounding the death of our beloved students some days ago,  JOEL FROM FASSA, COVENANT FROM SOSSA AND PRECIOUS FROM NUESA(EDU), there has been an issue about the death of the JOEL AND PRECIOUS as some "BLOGGERS" has taken it upon themselves to parade unconfirmed information on social media haven understand the technicality of information dissemination.
According to ENL100LEVEL COURSE REP and neighbors of the deceased JOEL, the death of Joel does not have any affiliation with that of precious in EDUCATION and JOEL THESE TWO DECEASED were never dating and JOEL NEVER WENT FOR ANY DINNER WITH ANY PRECIOUS.
information  is power and before any information  should be published, it has to be adequately verified. Before now there has been several news about these deaths and the office of the SUG PRO has been working hard to gather facts about these deaths despite the controversies.
We don't just forward technical information like this,  we take a little time to verify,  consult,  investigate and gather adequate facts before letting information of this nature out.
The SUG is begging that those persons who are engaged in the act of forwarding unconfirmed info maybe to build and enhance their brand should desist from it to avoid necessary sanction.
We pray the gentle soul of the faithful departed rest in everlasting peace... AMEN.
as regard admission screening exercise, this is to NOTIFY the general public to discard any news on social media about the commencement of UNIBEN ADMISSION SCREENING EXERCISE. according to the UNIBEN PRO,  THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT has not said anything about the commencement of the screening exercise and as such,  every necessary info concerning the exercise would be uploaded on the UNIBEN WEBSITE.

Fresh Crisis Looms As ASUU Threatens Strike

1>>The Academic Staff Union of Universities
(ASUU) has warned that the nation's
university sector may soon be thrown into
crisis if the federal government fails to begin
the total implementation of the 2009 ASUU-
FG agreement.
This was disclosed by the ASUU president,
Biodun Ogunyemi, while addressing reporters
in Abuja
yesterday.
Ogunyem called on well-meaning Nigerians to
intervene to avert a looming crisis in the
university
system.
He urged the federal government to reverse
the ban on post-UTME and the granting to
JAMB
exclusive rights to admit students to tertiary
institutions.
The union leader said that since the
introduction of the Post-UTME, there has
been considerable
improvement in the quality of students
admitted into the universities as evident in
the declining drop-out rate.

Jamb Admission Posting Is Not The Same As Admission List or Admission Letter- Professor Dibu

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board has stated that the recent list of
candidates sent to tertiary institutions
contains just the names of candidates
who met the national cut-off point within
the set criteria and hence qualified for
screening in their respective institutions based on the
institution's capacity and it's not in any way an admission
list.
This was disclosed by the JAMB registrar Prof. Dibu
Ojerinde, in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, the admission list will only be made
available after appropriate screening of candidates by the
institutions.
He equally added that all institutions that have need for
more candidates can source from their omnibus printout
earlier sent to them by the board in order to ensure that
available spaces are adequately utilised.
In an earlier statement on Saturday credited to the Deputy
Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of
Education, Mr. Ben. Bem-Goong, it was stated that the role
of JAMB is to conduct the UTME, compile the list of
candidates whose scores meet the cut-off marks (180 and
above) and send same to the universities.
The institutions, will now shortlist the candidates, using the
agreed guidelines and thereafter return the shortlisted
candidates to JAMB for verification of compliance with the
guidelines and issuance of JAMB admission letters.

We'll Okay Admission After Universities Screening, Says JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board has given condition for the 2016
admissions, saying it will only give
approval “after appropriate screening of
the candidates by the institutions.”
The Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB,
Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, said this in a
statement on Sunday.
Ojerinde said, “The Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board wishes to state that
the latest list of candidates sent to all the
tertiary institutions contains candidates
who qualified for screening based on the
individual institution’s capacity. It’s not in
any way an admission list.
“However, if this list is not sufficient for
the need of any institution, such institution
can source from the omnibus printout
earlier sent to them by the board. The
public and all tertiary institutions should
note that admission will only be approved
by the board after appropriate screening of
the candidates by the institutions.
“The list, which is made up of candidates,
who met the national cut-off point within
the set criteria, is sent to the institutions.
Again, for purposes of clarity, all
institutions that have need for more can
source from their omnibus printout as
stated above. The candid intention of the
board is to ensure that available spaces
are adequately utilised.”
The Federal Government had, on Saturday,
clarified its ban on Post-Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination and the general
admission procedure.
It said it “does not in any way affect the
statutory role of the Senate of any
university or the academic board of any
tertiary institution conducting its
admissions.”
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu
Adamu, also made the clarification in a
statement by the Deputy Director of Press
and Public Relations in the Ministry of
Education, Mr. Ben. Bem-Goong.
He said the clarification became necessary
“following conflicting reports in the media
over the roles of universities and JAMB in
admission under the new dispensation.”
According to him, the role of JAMB is to
conduct the UTME, compile the list of
candidates whose scores meet the cut-off
marks (180 and above) and send same to
the universities.
The institutions, he emphasised, would
shortlist the candidates, using the agreed
guidelines and thereafter return the
shortlisted candidates to JAMB for
verification of compliance with the
guidelines and issuance of JAMB
admission letters.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any screening
charges shall apply only to successful
candidates, who have been issued
admission by the universities of their
choice,” Adamu stated.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof.
Ibrahim Garba, has said the Senate of
universities in the country should be
responsible for setting standards for
admissions into their institutions.
Garba stated this while answering
questions at the News Agency of Nigeria
forum in Abuja.
The vice-chancellor faulted the situation
where JAMB and the Ministry of Education
set standards for admission into the
university.
Garba stated, “Universities have autonomy
by law; each university should set its
criteria for taking students.
“But of course, JAMB and the ministry are
saying that because it is our country, we
must have a policy that regulates, so that
we have a good balance but not on quality.
“A university Senate is supposed to set
standard for accepting students that it
takes and trains and graduates.
“We are hoping that very soon, we will
resolve this matter because it is getting
more and more embarrassing.
“Even the state universities have told the
Federal Government that education is in
the concurrent list in the constitution.
“The Federal Government has no control
and should not have control over a state
university; they have a council appointed
by the governor.
“They can only fulfil NUC’s standard
requirements, but not admission quota.’’
The ABU vice-chancellor explained that the
minister’s directive, leading up to the
scrapping of the post-UTME, had created
an impasse in universities as they had yet
to begin admissions.
According to him, universities could not
take the products of JAMB without further
testing them.
He said that universities, being the
recipients of the candidates, should be
able to select those they could train.
Garba added, “We found it, as universities,
that the post-UTME tests are the best to
get the best. JAMB is only trying to
improve, but still not perfect to a point that
