The Female Hostel experienced another fire outbreak again as room 301 in the Block A of Queen Idia Hall popularly known as Hall 1 got burnt in absolute totality.
A member of the room who declined telling us her name gave Naris Konsult247 a full account of how it all happened. "At about 11am I decided to go and mend my travelling bag. As at that time the Power Holding Company had not supplied power but as soon as I left for the Junior Staff Quarters power was restored. As I was coming back to my room, I saw flames of fire coming out of the window of my room. Immediately I opened the door of my room, I saw the whole room was on fire, my mattress had already been burnt then I was able to rescue my bag that was carrying my clothes. The fire service came but they had no water, so the fire extinguisher from hall2 was brought in but it had expired and was making the fire to escalate. Immediately, people had to now climb the water tanks, mixing detergent with water to quench the fire but all this was done when the damage had already been done." The source of the fire disaster is yet to be known.
We hope and believe that the Students' Union Government and the school management will put in great effort to ensure that such an incident never happens again. The Fire Fighting Service providers should always be readily available to ensure that all the needed materials are always on ground to avert such situation.
